My Renoir
Painting
(A Poem by Christina Strigas)
You
shout about the water
and
its consistency
I
listen and think about
that
Renoir painting
alive
in my memory.
The
one I saw at Musee D’Orsay
of
the happy couple
dancing.
Did
he yell at his love?
Times
have changed
yet
they haven’t
words
have become crueler
vulgar
heartbreaking.
Lace,
colorful gowns
have
metamorphosed
into
tight black
mini-skirts
bonnets
are stilettos
ribbons
are fish-net stockings
and
me
I
am not of this world.
I
want to be at
The
Ball of the Moulin de la Galette.
